Mr. Affa began his career on Wall Street in 1977, with the investment banking firm of Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., as a financial analyst in the Government and Mortgage Backed Trading Department. In 1981, he joined the American Stock Exchange as the budget director. In 1984, Mr. Affa joined the Marketing Division, where he was responsible for new business development both domestically and in Canada. In 1990, he accepted a position with Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors, directing business and financial analysis for corporate litigation matters. In this role, Ms. Carless develops and helps execute public relations, crisis management, and political strategies to advance the interests of the firm and its clients. Before joining Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors, Ms. Carless worked as the governmental affairs liaison for the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), where she directed legislative and public affairs at both the state and federal level. Ms. Carless was a registered lobbyist in several states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, California, Montana, Louisiana and West Virginia.

Prior to her time with the AAPL, Ms. Carless served as a director of public affairs for Wilks Brothers, LLC. She directed all media and public relations for the family, the “Undercover Billionaires of the Forbes 400,” and several of its business enterprises. Notably, she directed public advocacy in connection with a public policy campaign and land use and property rights lawsuit for an airfield in Cisco, Texas. Ms. Carless also served as a director to the Wilks’ foundations and philanthropic efforts.

Ms. Carless’ interest in public affairs stems from her past work with the Mayoral Office of The City of Fort Worth, The City of Dallas, The Massachusetts Democratic Party, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Ms. Carless has received various professional awards recognizing her work in communications and public affairs. In 2014, The Fort Worth Business Press recognized Ms. Carless with the “Fort Worth Forty Under Forty” award.

Ms. Carless is active in a broad array of community activities, and currently serves on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tarrant County. Since 2001, Mr. Carter has managed public relations for the firm and, in many cases, the clients it represents. As director of a practice group that specializes in issues and crisis management, Mr. Carter has successfully managed a wide range of communications challenges and opportunities, including legal and regulatory concerns, crisis events, and pro-active campaigns. He has been recognized as among the first communication professionals countrywide to begin an in-house public relations practice at a national litigation firm.

Mr. Carter also manages media relations and public advocacy for the Brewer Storefront, the firm’s community-service affiliate, and serves as executive director of the Brewer Foundation. He helps oversee the Brewer Foundation’s Future Leaders Program and the Brewer Foundation/New York University International Public Policy Forum.

Ms. Dillon is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 18 years of accounting, financial, and litigation consulting experience. Since 2001, Ms. Dillon has been part of the Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors consulting practice and has worked on a variety of litigation matters and disputes, including intellectual property (patent and trade secret), antitrust claims, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and SEC regulatory reporting and tax issues. She has extensive financial and damage analysis expertise in the following industries: hospitality, technology development, sports and leisure, trusts, investments, and insurance. Ms. Dillon employs causation analysis, forensic accounting, and financial modeling to develop and critique damage models.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Dillon was a Director of Consulting at Veris Consulting in Reston, Virginia, where she was responsible for providing litigation expert services to regulators and attorneys regarding forensic accounting, auditing, and damage issues. Ms. Dillon also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she was responsible for audits and business/litigation consulting. He provided counsel on how to navigate the various state and federal regulatory schemes governing the company’s multi-state operations, and also formed defense and resolution strategies for high-profile lawsuits.

Most recently, he oversaw the corporate response to an on-site examination of the company’s operations by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Prior to that, Mr. Fresch provided legal and tax advice to local businesses at a boutique business law firm in Dallas.

In 2013, Mr. Fresch received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. While at SMU Dedman, Mr. Fresch served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Air Law & Commerce and was awarded the first annual Texas Aviation and Space Lawyers Scholarship. While at Duff & Phelps, Mr. Kaes acquired extensive experience performing valuations of U.S. and international based business enterprises, legal entities, debt and equity securities, intangible assets, and intellectual property for purposes of financial and tax reporting, litigation support, and tax reorganizations. He performed such valuations within a wide range of industries, including broadband service providers, pharmaceutical and healthcare service companies, electronic connector and component companies, and security service and product providers.

Prior to joining Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors, Ms. Melia practiced in Melbourne, Australia as a lawyer at a leading Australian firm where she defended directors in a highly-publicized securities enforcement action and class action, represented commercial real estate developers and management investment enterprises, and advised financial institutions.

Ms. Melia received her L.L.M. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2015, and her Master of Laws degree from Monash University in Melbourne in 2010. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of North Texas in 2003.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Montemayor spent 19 years working as a Language Analyst in the Dallas office of the FBI. She began her career with the FBI, investigating criminal cases, and later worked on foreign counterintelligence matters.

Dr. Prakash-Canjels, who holds a doctorate in economics, has more than 17 years of economic consulting experience. She has consulted in litigation matters regarding intellectual property (IP) damages, antitrust analysis, business appraisal and IP valuation, conjoint and other types of surveys, breach of contract damages, and bankruptcy matters.

She has considerable experience in IP matters and the analysis of market forces in antitrust, specifically, the economic analysis of markets, product market definitions, entry conditions, and product substitutability in numerous industries. Dr. Prakash-Canjels has been qualified as an expert witness and provided testimony on economic damages in Court.

Dr. Prakash-Canjels is the Assistant Treasurer for the Licensing Executives Society, USA and Canada (LES), and is the past Chair of the Valuation and Taxation Committee, LES. She is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). Ms. Unmuth also provides strategic communications for the legal public service affiliate of the firm, the Brewer Storefront. Most notably, Ms. Unmuth has provided communications support in connection with several successful voting rights cases brought on behalf of Latino voters in the Dallas area. She helped direct the Storefront’s advocacy on behalf of the famed Jim’s Shoe Repair in New York City – helping keep the shop open. The firm was recognized for this work with an Award of Merit for Media Relations in the 2015 Dallas Quill Awards, sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

In 2010, Ms. Unmuth was selected to participate in two international media symposiums sponsored by the French-American Foundation.
